May 14: IGE on Hawaii's Economy
David Y. Ige was sworn in as the eighth governor of the State of Hawaii on December 1, 2014. In the opening to his inauguration address he stated that “an inauguration is really an introduction of a new governor, a new administration, a new beginning.” He went on to state that government must “do the hard work” of nurturing a sustainable economy and must take a more active role in growing small business and diversifying our economic engine, as well as in supporting our larger and more established industries. With the recent confirmation of Luis Salaveria as the director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, what will the new administration do to support business and economic development?
